From age 18 I have been involved in transportation in one form or another. During my career my family and I spent 12 years working overseas in the mechanical and training side of transportation (both water and land).

In the early '80's I joined a large international transportation firm head quartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The ongoing problem of on-the-road repairs and locating service providers was a large part of the challenge of being Senior VP in charge of equipment maintenance.

After "retiring" from the industry in 1997, I set out to find some solutions to the road repair problem that has plagued us all for so many years. The advent of the Internet created a larger dimension to the problem in terms of keeping service provider information up-to-date. Rapidly growing Internet use has added to the relentless demand for new phone numbers - a demand that was already being fueled by cell phones and fax machines. Telephone companies are re-assigning telephone number prefixes at an alarming rate to clear the way for more numbers. This phenomenon made the already hard to manage service provider lists and books just about unmanageable. Telephone numbers are changing faster than most carriers can keep up to, and more time than ever is required just to keep a list current, never mind expanding it.

Fortunately the Internet also provides the solution to solving the problem of locating service providers. It is available to everyone on an on-line, real time basis. Hence the birth of TruckDown!, and the forming of a team dedicated to assuring that none of us ever have to go back to the lists. Might even save a tree or two while we are at it.

In a few short years, TruckDown! has progressed from a fledgling service locator to the service locator of choice for the transportation industry. Since the launch of the TruckDown! in 1997 we continue to provide additional enhancements designed to make it easier to manage the maintenance needs of fleets on the road.

On a personal note, having the opportunity to solve a problem that has plagued the industry for years has it's own rewards. In the bigger picture, I know the whole team at TruckDown! is extremely proud to be able to bring TruckDown! to our users.
